Australian Soldier & New Zealand Soldier

^ Back to start

Southern (left) pylon

The graphic represents an Australian soldier in a "rest on arms" drill position with weapon pointed downwards, a position used to remember the fallen. Behind the soldier an Australian Imperial Force badge can be seen, the distinctive shape of the rising sun badge worn on the upturn side of a slouch hat is commonly identified with the spirit of Anzac. This soldier faces a New Zealand Soldier (whose image is projected onto the Northern pylon).

Northern (right) pylon

The graphic represents a New Zealand soldier, with iconic 'lemon squeezer' hat, in a "rest on arms" drill position with weapon pointed downwards, a position used to remember the fallen. Behind the soldier a New Zealand Expeditionary Force "Onward" badge can be seen which forms a strong representation of this nation. This soldier faces an Australian Soldier (whose image is projected on the Southern pylon).

Anzac Bridge statues

The stylised images are based on the statues on the Anzac Bridge: on the left, the Australian Soldier; on the right, the New Zealand Soldier.
