Maitland Road Upgrade at Hexham complete

Port Stephens MP Craig Baumann has announced that Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has completed work to upgrade Maitland Road at Hexham.

“The NSW Government provided $1 million to improve traffic flow at this busy location,” Mr Baumann said.

“The project involved extending the northbound left lane on the approach to Hexham Bridge.

“This will improve traffic flow and safety for motorists travelling north to the Pacific Highway, and conditions for cyclists travelling on the shoulder outside the Hexham Railway Station.

“The extension will provide motorists with an opportunity to access the left turn lane to the Pacific Highway turnoff earlier and reduce northbound queues.

“The project also involved providing a wider and safer access to Hexham Railway Station.
“RMS will continue to investigate options to improve traffic flow through Hexham.

“RMS thanks motorists for their patience while work was carried out,” Mr Baumann said.
