Community comment invited on Tenterfield heavy vehicle bypass
Duty MLC for Northern Tablelands, Sarah Mitchell, is today encouraging the community to have their say on the proposed draft options for a Tenterfield heavy vehicle bypass.
“The Australian Government has committed $6 million for planning of a Tenterfield heavy vehicle bypass and safety works at Bolivia Hill as part of the Nation Building Program.
“The announcement of the draft preliminary route options is great news for the community as a heavy vehicle bypass would improve road safety and reduce congestion in the town centre.
“The project would also improve heavy vehicle access and interstate freight movements along the busy New England Highway.
“The planning project will assess the feasibility of a heavy vehicle bypass and investigate and design a preferred bypass route.
“The draft options can be viewed from Tuesday 5 March at the Tenterfield Regional Council chambers, Tenterfield library, the post office or online at www.rms.nsw.gov.au
“A community meeting will be held on Thursday 14 March at 6pm where the project team will be available to answer questions about the project.
“A drop in session will also be held on Friday 15 March from 9am to 12pm.
“The meeting and drop in session will be held at the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial School of Arts in Rouse Street at Tenterfield.
“Community consultation is a key part of the planning process to ensure local concerns are considered,” Mrs Mitchell said.
To attend either session contact the project team on 1800 810 680 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
