Have your say on stage three of Richmond Road upgrade

Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly MP, today announced a wider, safer Richmond Road is one step closer to reality for motorists with the concept design and Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the Richmond Road upgrade stage three now on display for community feedback.

“The safety improvements on Richmond Road between just north of Grange Avenue and the South Creek floodplain will improve the journey for motorists from a two lane road to a four lane road with a wide central median and two metre shoulders,” Mr Conolly said.
“For many locals stage three of the upgrade is crucial as this stage includes a new realigned and upgraded intersection with Garfield Road, which will address the “pinch point” currently experienced there.

“The NSW Government fast tracked the $46 million stage one upgrade work which started in February, to cater for industrial and residential developments around Marsden Park.

“Stage one work features an upgraded intersection with traffic lights at Townson Road and intersections to serve the Colebee Precinct and Marsden Park Industrial precinct. Stage one work is expected to be completed next year.

“In June last year the NSW Government announced $56 million would be provided from the Housing Acceleration Fund for stage two work to upgrade Richmond Road between Townson Road and Grange Avenue,” Mr Conolly said.

The Review of Environmental Factors for stage three is available on the RMS website at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/projects and at the following display locations until Friday 31 May 2013:

The community is also invited to one of two information sessions to be held at Marsden Park Public School, 363 Garfield Road, Marsden Park on Saturday 11 May between 10am-2pm and Wednesday 15 May between 3pm-8pm.

“Community feedback is vital to the upgrade of Richmond Road to ensure it provides the best possible connection to Windsor and Richmond in the north and Blacktown and surrounding areas of western Sydney to the south,” Mr Conolly said.

The Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for stages one and two between Bells Creek and Vine Street West was displayed in November 2011 and the project was approved in April last year. Stage two upgrade work between Townson Road and Grange Avenue, Marsden Park is expected to start mid next year and be completed during 2015/16.

“The upgrade of Richmond Road will be carried out in stages, in conjunction with North West Growth Centre precinct development. We thank the community for their feedback on stages one and two and look forward to your comments on stage three,” Mr Conolly said.
