State Government helping to repair flood damaged roads
Member for Barwon, Kevin today announced the NSW Government will provide new funding for Narrabri Shire and Moree Plains Shire councils to carry out repairs to roads damaged by floods earlier this year.
“The two local government areas were declared natural disaster zones by the NSW Government after major storms and flooding in February,” Mr Humphries said.
“The NSW Government has provided Narrabri Shire Council with more than $940,000 to carry out repairs to local roads.
“Moree Plains Shire Council has received more than $2.3 million for local road repairs, more than $380,000 for regional road repairs and more than $400,000 for State road repairs.
“Local government areas which are declared as natural disaster areas are eligible to receive funding from the NSW Government under the NSW Disaster Assistance Guidelines.
“Grants are available to help councils repair damage to regional and local roads.
“RMS thanks motorists for their patience and advises them to plan their journey and drive according to the conditions until necessary repairs are carried out,” Mr Humphries said.
