Barclays cut slope repair work completed

Work on the slope next to the road at Barclays Cut about 15 kilometres west of Lithgow has been completed improving safety for motorists travelling on the Great Western Highway.

Mr Toole said work started last month to stabilise the slope which aims to reduce the need for routine maintenance and improve slope stability.

“The NSW Government provided $470,000 for this project to improve safety for motorists travelling along the highway at this location by reducing the risk of potential rock falls,” Mr Toole said.

“The work was carried out by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and involved removing vegetation and loose material and installing a water proof membrane to stabilise the slope.

“The restoration is yet another example of RMS’ commitment to ensuring safety for motorists in the Lithgow area.

“RMS thanks road users and residents for their patience while the work was carried out,” Mr Toole said.
