Resurfacing starts on New England Highway at Rutherford
Member for Maitland, Robyn Parker, has welcomed advice from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) that work will start today to resurface the New England Highway at Rutherford.
"The NSW Government has provided $244,000 to resurface 720 metres of the road between Dunkley and Arthur streets as part of an ongoing program to improve the New England Highway in the Hunter," Ms Parker said.
"This work involves installing a new road surface on the southbound lanes of the New England Highway at this location.
"The project will reduce ongoing maintenance costs and provide a smoother, more durable road for all motorists.
"The work is expected to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting," Ms Parker said.
RMS will carry out road work at night from Sunday to Wednesday from 7pm to 4am and Thursday to Friday from lOpm to 4am.
Changed traffic conditions will be in place while the work is carried out including lane closures and traffic controllers directing motorists.
A temporary 40km/h speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work and some short delays may be experienced.
Motorists are advised to plan their journey, allow extra travel time and follow all signs.
