Changes to Ennis Road development proposal

Roads and Maritime Services is advising the community about changes to a development proposal of Ennis Road at Milson’s Point.

“Roads and Maritime has been in consultation with the community since 2011 on a proposal to develop into a commercial precinct the heritage listed building below the northern approach to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Milsons Point railway station concourse,” an RMS spokesperson said.

“The development application sent to North Sydney Council will not proceed in its existing form after market changes and parking limitations in the area changed the viability of the proposal.

“Alternative options will instead be explored for the site in the coming months. Existing tenants including Sydney Trains and NSW Housing are being kept informed.

“A revised proposal to refurbish the building as office facilities with other improvements to the concourse and retail area may be submitted to North Sydney Council.

“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their feedback on important issues including protecting the site’s heritage, improving the Milson’s Point concourse and preserving the unique village atmosphere.

“Areas important to the community will be incorporated into the development of the future proposals. The community will be invited to give feedback when the proposal ready,” the spokesperson said.
