Community feedback invited on South Windsor intersection upgrades

The community will be invited to give feedback next month on the concept design for the upgrade of two intersections at South Windsor which aim to improve safety and reduce congestion, the Member for Londonderry Bart Bassett announced today.

Mr Bassett said “Roads and Maritime Services will be carrying out detailed design for a new roundabout to be installed at the intersection of Richmond Road and The Northern Rd and an upgrade of the existing roundabout at George Street and Blacktown Road.

The NSW Government provided $3.5 million this financial year to progress the project which aims to improve traffic flow and safety for all road users.

Next month the community will receive an update inviting feedback to the proposed concept design.

“The proposal includes installing a new roundabout on Richmond Road at The Northern Road intersection, an additional westbound lane on Blacktown Road, new kerb, gutter and footpaths and improved street lighting,” Mr Bassett said.

The detailed design is expected to be completed in the coming months and building work would start by mid-2014.

Further investigations to locate underground utilities will continue in the coming months and Roads and Maritime will keep the community informed of this work.
