Member for the Dubbo electorate, Troy Grant has welcomed the completion of safety and traffic flow improvements on the intersection at Brocklehurst on the Newell Highway.

“This was  one of my election commitments to the community, providing a safe intersection at Brocklehurst and its great to see the work complete,” Mr Grant said.

“The NSW Government provided $2 million for the improvement work just north of Dubbo, which involved installing dedicated right and left turn lanes for both northbound and southbound traffic on the highway to reduce the chance of rear end crashes for turning traffic.”

“An acceleration lane for northbound traffic was also installed so vehicles including road trains can safely turn left out of Burraway Road and accelerate before merging with traffic on the highway.”

These improvements will also help road train operators access the industrial area west of the Newell Highway in the Brocklehurst area.

Heavy vehicle safety is important and this is an example of Roads and Maritime’s commitment to improving safety for all road users in western NSW.

Roads and Maritime Services carried out the work and thanks motorists for their patience.
