Helping learner drivers: free workshop

Parents in Cooma teaching their children how to drive will be able to get some practical advice thanks to free a workshop, the Member for Monaro John Barilaro said today.

The NSW Government is conducting free two hour workshops ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ for parents and supervisors across the state.

“Parents and supervisors of novice drivers have a crucial role to play in making our roads safer; for this reason the NSW Centre for Road Safety has developed a course to better support them,” Mr Barilaro said.

The workshops will provide practical advice on topics such as understanding the new laws for L and P license holders completing the Learner driver log book and supervising learner drivers.

The workshops are specifically targeted at parents, friends or relatives who are, or will be supervising the learner.

“Parents and supervisors who have attended this course found it boosted their confidence, helped them better plan driving sessions and allowed them to share experiences with other parents and supervisors,” said Mr Barilaro.

“The course also reinforces the important role of families in providing on-going support for young motorists in the early years of driving.”

The workshop will be held at Monaro High School at 5.30pm on Monday 28 October.

Bookings are essential and can be made by calling (02) 4221 2770.
