Safety upgrade work starting on Parramatta Road at Camperdown
Roads and Maritime Services is carrying out work next week which aims to improve safety in wet conditions on Parramatta Road at the intersection of Missenden and Lyons roads.
“The NSW Government provided $160,000 to upgrade the road with a high friction surface,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“In the five years to July 2011, there were 61 reported crashes within 50 metres of the Camperdown intersection. Of these, 20 occurred on a wet surface, making the upgrade a priority.
“The new surface aims to improve vehicle traction and reduce the likelihood of wet surface crashes,” the spokesperson said.
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions including lane closures, reduced speed limits and short delays on Monday 11 and Tuesday 12 November from 8pm to 5am while the work is carried out.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while the changed traffic conditions are in place.
Wet weather may change times and dates.
Motorists are advised to plan their journey, allow extra travel time and follow all signs.
Every effort will be made to minimise noise related to this work.
