Contract awarded for Sparks Road intersection upgrade
A new intersection and improved access on Sparks Road to the future Warnervale Town Centre is a step closer with the build tender awarded to local Central Coast contractor, Robson Civil Projects.
Member for Wyong Darren Webber said the NSW Government has committed $23 million toward the improvements including $17 million from the Housing Acceleration Fund.
“Major work is scheduled to start early next year and expected to be completed in mid June 2015, weather permitting,” Mr Webber said. “The work includes building the new intersection and upgrading sections of Sparks Road from Minnesota Road to Virginia Road at Woongarrah.
“Early work to establish the site including earthwork and vegetation clearing started in May and will be completed by December this year for major work to start.
“Traffic lights will be installed at the new intersection at Woongarrah to allow for safe access to the new Warnervale Town Centre and residential and commercial areas, offering increased capacity to meet traffic growth in future years.
“Improvements will also be made to the existing intersection at Minnesota Road including providing two lanes in each direction on Sparks Road between Minnesota Road and the new Warnervale Town Centre intersection,” Mr Webber said.
