Changed traffic conditions on ‘S Bends’ on New South Head Road, Vaucluse
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has advised me of changed traffic conditions that will be in place for road investigation work on New South Head Road at Vaucluse from Monday 13 January 2014. Work to investigate the road for proposed upgrades will be carried out on the ‘S Bends’ between Hopetoun Avenue and Dover Road for two weeks, weather permitting. Investigations will involve drilling the asphalt on small sections of road to inform proposed future upgrade work.
"I welcome this next step toward the proposed future upgrade of the Vaucluse ‘S Bends’. I have been strongly advocating for this important road upgrade. From the City2Surf to busy commuting, it is an important high traffic section of road that needs major improvement,” said Ms Upton, Member for Vaucluse.
To minimise traffic disruptions, I understand that the RMS work will be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 8pm and 5am. Partial lane closures will be in place to ensure a safe work space. Motorists should plan their journey, allow extra travel time and follow all signs and the direction of traffic controllers. Every effort will be made to reduce noise from the work.
