Hornsby Heavy Vehicle Inspection Station upgrade complete
The Hornsby heavy vehicle inspection station on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Bridge Street will reopen on 17 February after a four month closure for essential upgrade work.
Hornsby State Liberal MP Matt Kean said the $400,000 upgrade was fully funded by the NSW Government.
“Roads and Maritime Services closed the station after more than 20 years of inspections and servicing tens of thousands of heavy vehicles to complete the upgrade," Mr Kean said.
“Improvement work was needed to ensure worker and customer safety for ongoing quality service into the future.
“The work included lengthening the station structure for long trucks and installing roller doors at either end.
“Access to the site was leveled to improve the entry and exit for heavy vehicles and offers more shelter for customers and inspectors in all weather conditions.
“Roads and Maritime thanks customers for their patience while this essential upgrade was carried out,” Mr Kean said.
Many heavy vehicles and buses registered in NSW must be inspected annually at Roads and Maritime inspection stations to ensure road safety and roadworthiness.
Bookings for inspections can be made by contacting a Roads and Maritime contact centre, by phoning 1300 364 847 or visiting www.rms.nsw.gov.au.
