School zone extension for Winmalee Public School

Pedestrian safety will be boosted on Leslie Street and Ecole Avenue at Winmalee with the school zone for Winmalee Public School to be extended.

Roza Sage MP said Roads and Maritime Services will extend the existing Leslie Street school zone by 50 metres to the east and install a 25 metre long school zone on Ecole Avenue to improve safety for students using the school access points on Leslie Street.

"The extension comes after a safety review was carried out in accordance with school zoning guidelines," said Mrs Sage.

'The 40 km/h extended school zone will operate from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm and

4pm on gazetted school days with new signs expected to be installed from Thursday 6

March, weather permitting.

"I encourage motorists to slow down not only on Leslie Street and Ecole Avenue, but in all of our school zones during operating hours, to ensure the safety of all road users, especially students.
