Speed limit change on Cargo Road in Orange

Motorists are encouraged to slow down on Cargo Road in Orange with a speed limit change due to be implemented on 27 February, weather permitting.

Member for Orange, Andrew Gee said Roads and Maritime Services has carried out a review of the road as part of an ongoing speed zone review program in response to community concerns.

“The review assessed a number of factors along the road including pedestrian activity, road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data,” Mr Gee said.

“The existing speed limit will be reduced from 80 km/h to 60 km/h for about 1.3 kilometres just west of Ploughmans Lane to 300 metres west of Witton Place.

“Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the changes and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.

“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits,” Mr Gee said.
