Road safety improvements on the Princes Highway at Bodalla
Member for Bega Andrew Constance has advised that road safety is set to be improved later this month on the Princes Highway at Bodalla when Roads and Maritime Services carries out work near Tuross River Bridge.
“The work involves stabilising the road side cuttings to minimise rock falls on the section of the Princes Highway between Bodalla and Tuross River Bridge,” Mr Constance said.
“The NSW Government has provided more than $2.6 million to carry out the essential work to ensure safe and efficient journeys for NSW motorists.
“Preparatory work will be carried out to remove the existing Poplar trees at the southern end of the Tuross River Bridge and some vegetation along the Princes Highway from the Tuross River Bridge south to Bodalla.
“Roads and Maritime will replant appropriate species in a suitable location to replace those removed,” Mr Constance said.
The preparatory work will allow for widening the highway and the road shoulders. Guardrail will also be reinstalled to further improve road safety.
The road safety work is expected to start on Monday 31 March and will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 6pm and on Saturday from 8am and 2pm, weather permitting.
Motorists will use one lane of the highway at the worksite under traffic control.
This work is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting.
