Temporary intersections in place for Princes Highway upgrade at Gerringong
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward today announced that local motorists should expect changed traffic conditions on the southern section of the Gerringong upgrade from early April, as work on the $329 million upgrade progresses.
“The intersection of the Princes Highway and Belinda Street will be temporarily relocated south to near Willowvale Road,” Mr Ward said.
“This will allow continued access for motorists into and out of Belinda Street while the interchange and new highway are built in this area.
“The completed grade separated interchange at Belinda Street will improve safety and traffic flow for motorists.
“The changed traffic arrangements are expected to be in place for around eight weeks. There will be further changes to traffic conditions in this area as building of the Belinda Street interchange progresses.
“Princes Highway traffic will also be moved onto temporary sections of the upgraded highway between Willowvale Road and north of Sims Road.
“This will allow building of the highway to progress.
”A temporary intersection will be built to provide access to Sims Road and Alne Bank Lane.
“Work is progressing on the Fern Street railway bridge, as are plans for the building of the Union Creek bridge, the Gerringong railway station carpark and new access roads for Omega Lane, Rose Valley and Sims Roads,” Mr Ward said.
The 7.5 kilometre upgrade will include two new interchanges with access to Gerringong and Gerroa, and is expected to be completed by mid 2015.
Preparation work leading up to these traffic changes will be carried out at night between 6pm and 7am.
