Nowra Bridge project value management workshop

Planning for a possible new crossing over the Shoalhaven River will take another step forward in May with a value management workshop to be held to help recommend a preferred location.

Member for South Coast Shelley Hancock today invited community members interested in participating in the workshop for the Nowra Bridge project to contact Roads and Maritime Services.

"The NSW Government has provided $2 million this year for planning for a potential new river crossing and the workshop is the next step in the process," Mrs Hancock said.

"The one day workshop will bring together Roads and Maritime project staff, technical experts and key stakeholders including two community representatives to review the material gathered from technical studies and community feedback.

"It is expected a recommended location for a potential new crossing will be identified as part of the workshop process."

Studies into improving conditions on the Princes Highway over the Shoalhaven River in Nowra have been under way since late 2012.

As part of the investigations, several technical studies looking at environment, heritage, traffic and design constraints of potential locations for a new crossing were carried out and will be presented at the workshop.

Feedback received from local residents and stakeholders at community sessions held late last year will also be assessed at the workshop.

"Participants will help the project team identify priorities and criteria to assess the different location options.

People interested in representing the community will need to submit an application form responding to selection criteria. Application information is available on the project website by calling the information line on 1800 331 713 or emailing

Applications will be assessed by a panel made up of two independent representatives from the Nowra area and the Roads and Maritime Project Manager.

Applications close on Monday 28 April.

"The Nowra bridge project is part of the NSW Government's commitment to ensure safe and efficient journeys for NSW motorists," Mrs Hancock said.
