Robin Hill curve widening work completed early

20 May 2014

Motorists using the Mitchell Highway seven kilometres west of Bathurst now have a safer journey through the

Robin Hill curve, after road improvement work was completed early.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the NSW Government provided $1.5 million for the work under the Road Toll Response Package Safety Barrier Program.

“The project was in response to several crashes at this site in the five years to January 2012.

During this time there was one crash which resulted in two fatalities and three reported crashes which resulted in injuries,” Mr. Toole said.

“Work included installing a wire rope median barrier to reduce the number and severity of crashes involving vehicles crossing the centre line into oncoming traffic. Work started in late February and was completed ahead of schedule.

“The road safety improvements are part of Roads and Maritime’s commitment to deliver safe, efficient and high quality services and infrastructure to the people of western NSW.

Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience while this important work was carried out,” Mr Toole concluded.
