LH Ford Bridge investigation to start

22 May 2014

Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant announced today that an elevated platform will be installed under the LH Ford Bridge in Dubbo to carry out investigations on the best way to upgrade and strengthen the bridge.

Mr Grant said “the NSW Government has allocated $370,000 for planning work on how best to strengthen the bridge which spans the Macquarie River,”

“A future upgrade would aim to ensure the bridge can serve the community well into the future, improve its load capacity and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.”

“Roads and Maritime Services will start installing an elevated work platform under the bridge on Monday 26 May.

“Work to install the platform will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 5pm and is expected to be completed by the end of May, weather permitting.”

Traffic on the bridge will not be affected although pedestrians are advised to take extra care when using the river bank cycleway.

“This work is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to provide quality road infrastructure for motorists in western NSW.”
