Silver City Highway improvements at Popiltah

27 May 2014

The next stage of improvements to the Silver City Highway at Popiltah will be carried out from Monday, John Williams The Nationals Member for Murray-Darling said.

Mr Williams said the NSW Government has provided $1.2 million for this work under the State Highways Widening Program.

“Work will involve widening a 2.1 kilometre section of the road and shoulder and carrying out drainage improvements, north of Wentworth,” Mr Williams said.

“This is stage four of a road improvement project on a total 19.2 kilometre section of the road to improve the journey for motorists.

“This work is another example of the NSW Government’s commitment to enable safe and efficient journeys for motorists on State Roads in south western NSW,” Mr Williams said.

Work will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 5pm and is expected to be completed by mid July, weather permitting.

Signs and mobile traffic lights will be in place to guide motorists through the work site where the speed limit will be reduced to 40km/h.

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and to follow all signs.
