Upgrade for New South Head Road 'S Bends' - Rose Bay to Vaucluse
Vaucluse MP Gabrielle Upton today announced a $1 million project to improve road conditions on the part of New South Head Road known as the “S bends” would start on Monday, 14 July.
“I have consistently lobbied for improvements to the section of New South Head Road known as the “S bends,” and I am pleased to announce that the Minister for Roads has listened,” Ms Upton said.
“The upgrade to New South Head Road will include repair to concrete slabs and resurfacing, installation of bicycle safe grates, repair to kerbs and gutters and line marking,” Ms Upton said.
“The first stage of work that will upgrade both sides of the road between Clairvaux Road and Hopetoun Avenue, will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, except Saturdays.
“Work is expected to be completed on Friday 8 August, weather permitting.”
Ms Upton said stage two would involve improvement work to the lanes of New South Head Road, between Dover Road and Hopetoun Avenue.
“Roads and Maritime Services will give motorists and residents advanced notice of the start date and work times for stage two,” Ms Upton said.
“I am pleased that repairs will be undertaken in two stages in consideration of the traffic expected for City2Surf and high school seniors taking the HSC exams.”
“We thank residents and road users for their patience while this important work is carried out.”
Partial lane closures and some parking restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of workers and road users.
Motorists are reminded to follow reduced speed limits and the direction of traffic controllers.
