Safety upgrade starts on Denman Road at Muswellbrook
George Souris, M.P., Member for Upper Hunter, is pleased to announce that Roads and Maritime Services will start work this month on a major project to improve safety on Denman Road at Muswellbrook.
Work will be carried out on a 2.1 kilometre stretch of road just west of the Edderton Road intersection.
Mr. Souris said the NSW Government has provided $2.2 million for the work which will integrate with a 1.3 kilometre stretch of Denman Road recently upgraded next to this location.
“The project includes shoulder widening, road rehabilitation, property access and drainage improvements,” Mr. Souris said.
“Wider shoulders and safety barriers are expected to provide a safer road for motorists while upgraded drainage will reduce future maintenance costs.
“The project work site will be established on 14 July with major work to start in late July and is expected to be completed in early 2015.
“Work will take place from 7am to 6pm with traffic control in place at all times. Motorists may experience short delays.
“This project is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to providing safe and reliable road infrastructure to the commuity and businesses of the Hunter region,” Mr. Souris concluded.
