New school zone for Australian Islamic College of Sydney at Mount Druitt
Member for Londonderry Bart Bassett welcomes the installation of a new school zone to be installed this month on Duke Street at Mount Druitt to improve safety for students and pedestrians accessing the Australian Islamic College of Sydney.
“Roads and Maritime Services will install a school zone for 95 metres on Duke Street to encourage motorists to slow down near the Australian Islamic College of Sydney school crossing,” Bart Bassett said.
“The 40km/h speed limit will operate from 8am to 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on gazetted school days.
“The new school zone signs are expected to be installed from Monday 14 July, weather permitting with the school zone to be operational from this date.
“Motorists are reminded to slow down, obey the 40km/h school zone speed limit and observe pedestrians near the school at all times.”
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website www.saferroadsnsw.com.au to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
