A safer Silver City Highway at Popiltah
14 August 2014
Motorists travelling on the Silver City Highway now have a safer trip through Popiltah after Roads and Maritime Services completed the final stage of road improvements, John Williams The Nationals Member for Murray-Darling said.
Mr Williams said the NSW Government provided $1.5 million for the improvement work under the State Highways Widening Program.
“This completes four stages of improvements with a total of 6.6 kilometres of highway widened and resurfaced ,” Mr Williams said.
“Work on this stage involved widening a 3.3 kilometre section of the road and shoulder and carrying out drainage improvements, north of Wentworth.
“This work is another example of the NSW Government’s commitment to enable safe and efficient journeys for motorists on State Roads in south western NSW.
“Work on this stage started in May and was completed to schedule.
“Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for their patience while work was carried out.
“All changed traffic conditions and reduced speed limits, which applied during work, have been lifted and the road is open to traffic,” Mr Williams concluded.
