Katrina welcomes $1.5 million Gocup Road upgrade at Minjary Creek
5 September 2014
Local Nationals Member, Katrina Hodgkinson welcomed the announcement that Roads and Maritime Services will start work next week on a project to improve a 1.2 kilometre section of Gocup Road at Minjary Creek, north of Tumut.
Katrina said the NSW Government provided $1.5 million to widen the road and improve the alignment and road surface for better motorist safety, as well as improve drainage during wet weather.
The project is part of progressive improvements carried out along Gocup Road since 2011.
“The improvement work is being carried out by Roads and Maritime in response to concerns by the community, Tumut and Gundagai Shire Councils and the local timber industry about the condition of the road between Tumut and Gundagai,” Katrina said.
“Further work is being planned to provide the safest possible road for motorists.”
Work will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 6pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm.
Mobile traffic lights will be in place to guide motorists safely through the work zone.
Access to properties will be maintained at all times while work is being carried out.
There will be a reduced speed limit through the work site of 40 km/h in place during the day and 60 km/h at night until the project has been completed.
