Improvement work starts at Georges Plains and Perthville rail crossings
10 September 2014
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP today announced that work will commence this Friday to improve safety at two railway crossings on Main Road 54 between Bathurst and Goulburn.
The NSW Government has provided $160,000 for work to replace sections of the road surface on the approach to the rail crossing at Georges Plains and carry out asphalt patching at Perthville.
Both projects aim to improve safety by upgrading the road surface and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 5pm from Friday until next Thursday 18 September.
Motorists are advised the road at Georges Plains crossing will be fully closed to traffic and detours will be in place and clearly signposted. The temporary detour will be in place via Rockley Road; however it will not be suitable for wide loads.
Lane closures will be in place at Perthville and motorists are advised to reduce speed and follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience while this essential maintenance is carried out.
