Summer Boating Season Launch
24 September 2014
Member for Pittwater Rob Stokes is encouraging local boat owners to visit Rowland Reserve at Bayview this Sunday to help launch the summer boating season.
The NSW Roads and Maritime Services and Transport for NSW are hosting a free Boating Safety Day, between 10am and 2pm, which will include activities, competitions and demonstrations of key boating equipment.
“This event will kick start the new boating season and help inform local boaters about the latest safety equipment,” Rob Stokes said today.
“Boating safety and education officers will be on hand to answer questions, give interactive lifejacket and flare demonstrations and educate local boaters about correct safety habits.
“There will be competitions, prizes, information giveaways and a Marine Rescue sausage sizzle.
“Information displays from a range of water safety partners, highlighting current products and technologies, will also be featured.
“One of the key objectives of the day is to break down the perception that all lifejackets are big, bulky and uncomfortable. They’ll be showcasing modern, functional, slim designed lifejackets that can be worn in comfort all day.
“Boating is a huge part of our community’s lifestyle but it’s essential correct safety practices and procedures are followed.
“I encourage all local boaters to get along to this informative event,” Rob Stokes said.
