$1 million Olympic Highway resurfacing work at Verdale

20 October 2014

Road resurfacing work will start next week as part of a major upgrade of the Olympic Highway, north of Culcairn.

Daryl Maguire MP Member for Wagga Wagga said Roads and Maritime Services would start $1 million of work to resurface a one kilometre section of the highway between The Rock and Yerong Creek.

“This work is part of a larger package of improvements which Roads and Maritime is completing on a 5.4 kilometre section of highway,” Mr Maguire said.

“The 318 kilometre Olympic Highway links Cowra and Albury.

“It also offers motorists an alternative route from Albury to Sydney as it links Hume Highway to Mid Western Highway and Great Western Highway via Bathurst.”

Work will be carried out on weekdays from 7am to 5pm and on Saturday from 7am to 1pm.

During work, a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will apply in the work zone with a 60 km/h speed limit outside working hours.

Traffic controllers and mobile traffic lights will guide motorists through the work site.

Up to date information about the work and any impacts to motorists will be displayed on electronic message signs along the road.

Road users are asked to follow reduced speed limits and follow traffic signs.

Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience during the road resurfacing work which is expected to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting.
