Community thanked for feedback on preferred bypass option
1 December 2014
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today thanked the local community for providing valuable feedback on the preferred option for the proposed Albion Park Rail bypass.
“Community consultation closed last Monday 24th November and the project team is now collating and reviewing all the feedback,” Mr Ward said.
“More than 1600 people attended the community sessions and around 200 surveys were completed during the month the preferred option was displayed.
“This showed the high level of interest in the community for this important project and I thank the public for their participation.
“A feedback report will be published early next year,” he said.
“Feedback from the community will be taken into consideration and the preferred design of the proposed bypass will continue to be refined.
“An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is now being prepared and this will have more detailed information about the design features.
“The EIS is expected to be exhibited late next year when further community feedback will be sought, with planning approval targeted for 2016,” Mr Ward said.
A fly through of the proposed route has been developed and is available on the project website. The fly through shows the proposed route and each of the interchange layouts and how they would function.
