George Souris, M.P., Member for Upper, is pleased to announce that road users travelling between Clarence Town and Dungog can now benefit from improved safety with the $1.6 million upgrade of Clarence Town Road at Brookfield now complete.
Mr. Souris said the NSW Government funded upgrade is part of a $20 million election commitment to improve the road between Raymond Terrace and Dungog.
“The upgrade included widening the lanes and shoulders, improving the road alignment and drainage,” Mr. Souris said.
“The project is expected to improve safety, provide a smoother road and reduce future maintenance costs.
“The upgrade which started in June this year and finished this month is the eighth upgrade completed as part of a broader program to improve Clarence Town Road between Raymond Terrace and Dungog.
“A two kilometre section of Clarence Town was upgraded from 370 metres north of Wallarobba Brookfield Road to 375 metres north of Glen Williams Road,” Mr. Souris said.
This work was carried out by Dungog Shire Council and funded through the NSW Government’s Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund.
The project is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to deliver safe, efficient and high quality services and infrastructure to the community and businesses of country NSW.
