Historical Gostwyck Bridge progresses with painting contract awarded
10 December 2014
George Souris, M.P., Member for Upper Hunter, is pleased to announce the upgrade of historical Gostwyck Bridge is progressing with a contract awarded to Ray’s Machinery Painting (RMP) Pty Ltd to paint the bridge over the Paterson River at Gostwyck.
Mr. Souris said the NSW Government allocated $1.9 million this year to paint and repair the Gostwyck Bridge, one of the very few remaining examples of a steel Pratt truss.
“Bridge painting will start in February next year and is expected to be completed by July,” Mr. Souris said.
“Upgrades to the Gostwyck Bridge timber approach spans are now complete and strengthening work on the steel spans is under way.
“The bridge will remain open to traffic while this work is carried out.
“This work is aimed at supporting the ongoing social and commercial development of Dungog and surrounding areas and will reduce future maintenance activities and bridge closures.”
“For more information about the project visit www.rms.nsw.gov.au,” Mr. Souris concluded.
