Night work at Gerringong to prepare for Christmas speed limit changes
16 December 2014
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today advised local motorists that changed traffic conditions are in place along the Princes Highway at Gerringong this week to prepare for changes to the speed limit for the upcoming Christmas holidays.
Mr Ward said that night work will take place on the Princes Highway on one night this week between 7pm and 6am and will include line marking and barrier removal. Work is expected to be carried out by Friday.
“The highway will be reduced to one lane as work progresses through the site. Reduced speed limits and temporary signs will also be in place to guide motorists,” he said.
“Motorists are advised to plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
“The night work will allow an increase to the speed limit to 80km/h between Saturday 20th December and Sunday 4th January 2015 on sections of the Princes Highway at Gerringong.
“The speed limit will be increased in an effort to improve traffic flow for holiday motorists.
“The NSW Government is carrying out a $329 million upgrade of the Princes Highway between Mount Pleasant and Toolijooa Road.
“The upgrade is expected to be completed by mid-2015,” Mr Ward said.
