Lemon Tree Passage Road upgrade complete
22 December 2014
Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Roads Geoff Provest today announced the $5 million upgrade of Lemon Tree Passage Road at Salt Ash was now complete.
“The NSW Government has provided $5 million to the 4.6 kilometre upgrade of Lemon Tree Passage through the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund with additional funding provided by Port Stephens Council,” Mr Provest said.
“The major project to improve safety on Lemon Tree Passage Road included widening lanes to 3.5 metres between Nelson Bay Road and the northern end of Brownes Road and installing 1.5 metre road shoulders in sections.
“The project also improved the road surface to increase safety and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
“The upgrade also included utility adjustments and drainage improvements.
“Work started in August last year and was carried out in two stages.
“This project is yet another example of the NSW Government’s commitment to improving road safety in Port Stephens,” Mr Provest said.
Port Stephens Council carried out the work on behalf of the NSW Government.
Regular speed limits and traffic conditions will return to normal as work is now completed.
