Road upgrade to Clarence Town Road at Clarence Town
27 January 2015
George Souris, MP, Member for Upper has advised that road users will soon benefit from a road upgrade with work now under way on Clarence Town Road between Cemetery Road and Earl Street at Clarence Town.
Mr. Souris said the NSW Government had allocated $4.1 million as part of the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund to improve safety for road users, reduce ongoing maintenance costs and extend the life of the road.
“The upgrade work involves rebuilding 1.8 kilometres of Clarence Town Road to provide a safer ride for motorists.
“The work also includes the installation of new roadside kerbs and gutters and associated drainage work.
“Dungog Shire Council is managing the upgrade work with the first stage of work to be carried out by KCE Pty Ltd from Beresfield. Council will carry out the second stage of work from next month, with work expected to be completed mid year.
“This work is part of a $20 million commitment to upgrade the road from Raymond Terrace to Dungog.
“Clarence Town Road will remain open during the work with reduced speed limits in place. Signs will be in place to inform road users of changed traffic conditions,” Mr. Souris concluded.
