10 February 2015
George Souris, MP Member for Upper Hunter said “The NSW Government will start road repair work and safety improvements on Monday 16 February on the Golden Highway west of Edderton Road near Denman.
Mr Souris said he had received representations in support of the upgrade from Nationals candidate for Upper Hunter Michael Johnsen.
Mr. Souris said the NSW Government was providing $1.2 million for essential maintenance work which included widening the road shoulders and installing new safety barriers to improve safety on the Golden Highway.
“This work also includes road repairs and improvements to drainage and property access aimed at reducing ongoing maintenance costs,” Mr. Souris said.
“Work is scheduled to start next Monday and is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.”
Work will be carried out on weekdays between 6.30am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 4pm.
Mr. Souris added that “To ensure the safety of workers, motorists and other road users, a temporary 40km/h speed limit will remain in place during work and traffic controllers and signs will help direct motorists”.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience while this essential maintenance work is carried out.
