Night work on Martin Bridge at Taree
12 February 2015
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead would like to advise motorists that changed traffic conditions will be in place at night from Monday 16 February 2015 for the final stage of safety improvement work on Martin Bridge at Taree.
“Roads and Maritime Services started work to install a new safety barrier and repair sections of Martin Bridge in May last year. This work aims to ensure the bridge continues to meet current standards and improve the structure and reduce ongoing maintenance costs,” Mr Bromhead said.
“Work will be carried out between Sundays and Thursdays overnight from 7pm to 4am and is expected to take 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
“The bridge will remain open during work with changed traffic conditions including single lane closures and a temporary reduced speed limit of 40km/h. Traffic control will be in place to ensure the safety of workers, motorists and other road users.
“Day work will continue under the bridge between 7am and 5pm on weekdays using a barge. An exclusion zone will be established around the barge for marine vessels. There will be no impact to road users during day work” said Mr Bromhead.
Mr Bromhead said he would like to thank the community for their patience while this work is carried out.
