Katrina says night work to improve Barton Highway road surface
12 February 2015
Local MP Katrina Hodgkinson says the NSW Government has committed $1.5 million this year to maintaining the Barton Highway south of Yass, with work to start at Gounyan Curves on Monday 23 February 2015.
Katrina said the maintenance project will improve the road surface and protect it from deterioration.
“To ensure the Barton Highway serves the community into the future, maintenance work will be carried out on a four kilometre section south of Yass called Gounyan Curves,” she said.
“New asphalt will be laid and potholes mended to provide a better quality road surface.
“Work will start on Monday 23 February and continue until late March, weather permitting.
“To minimise impact on local road users, the work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 6am on weekdays.
“Some work may be required during weekdays between 9.30am and 3pm.”
Traffic control will be in place with one lane open for road users. Motorists are asked to adhere to reduced speed limits and allow additional travel time.
