Upgrade work to start on car park at Gerringong Station
16 February 2015
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has announced that tomorrow work will commence to upgrade the Gerringong train station car park to improve access and parking options for customers.
“The car park upgrade will include a new bus turning facility, 16 parking spaces and a new footpath for commuters,” Mr Ward said.
“This is another win for the community as a result of the $329 million Princes Highway upgrade at Gerringong, which aims to improve travel times and safety for all road users.
“Work to upgrade the car park is being carried out as part of the highway upgrade and will allow buses to leave Belinda Street and make a u-turn in the upgraded car park, improving traffic flow on Belinda Street.
“Work will be carried out on weekdays between 6.30am and 7pm from tomorrow for about three weeks, weather permitting,” he said.
“Commuters are advised there will be reduced parking spaces during the work although pedestrian access to the railway station will be provided at all times.
“Traffic control and signs will be in place to help direct motorists and pedestrians.
“I certainly thank the local community for their patience whilst this work is being carried out,” Mr Ward said.
