Work starts to strengthen Bunnerungee Bridge on Silver City Highway
2 March 2015
Roads and Maritime Services will start essential maintenance next week on the Bunnerungee Twin Bridges, about 65 kilometres north of Wentworth on the Silver City Highway.
The Nationals, Member for Murray-Darling, John Williams said the NSW Government allocated $420,000 for the work to strengthen the ends of the bridges with concrete.
“The work to be carried out from Wednesday 4 March will ensure the Bunnerungee Bridge remains safe for motorists and aims to reduce future maintenance costs,” John Williams said.
“Work will be carried out under the bridge and traffic conditions are not expected to change for motorists travelling on the Silver City Highway.“Workers will enter the site by the Bunnerungee rest area next to the bridge and minor disruptions at the public rest area next to the bridge can be expected.”
Work will be carried out between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and 8am and 1pm on Saturday and is due to finish end of March, weather permitting.
Access to nearby properties will not be affected.
The work is part of Roads and Maritime’s commitment to delivering safe, efficient and high quality services and infrastructure in south west NSW.
