Improvements for Henry Parkes Way in Parkes
27 May 2015
Roads and Maritime Services will start work on Monday on road improvements for Henry Parkes Way, also known as Westlime Road, just north of the Brolgan Road intersection.
Member for Orange Andrew Gee said the NSW Government allocated $180,000 for this important work which will be carried out in two stages.
“The first stage will involve widening Henry Parkes Way on the northern side of the intersection with Brolgan Road,” Mr Gee said.
“Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 5pm from Monday 1 June and between 7am and 4pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
“Traffic will be reduced to one lane when necessary with alternating traffic conditions in place,” Mr Gee said.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow all signs including a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h through the work site.
“The second stage of the work is scheduled to start later in the year and will involve changing the right of way at the intersection so motorists on Brolgan Road would give way to traffic on Henry Parkes Way,” Mr Gee added.
“Motorists will be advised in advance of these intersection changes.
“Stage two will also include placing a final road sealing at the intersection. The new road surface will then be line marked and new signs installed.
“Work will be carried out by Parkes Shire Council on behalf of Roads and Maritime.
“Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this important road improvement work.”
