Work starts to provide safer road surface on New Lake Entrance Road
3 June 2015
Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast, Gareth Ward, has today announced that Roads and Maritime Services will start work next week to provide a safer road surface for motorists on New Lake Entrance Road at Shellharbour.
Mr Ward said the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government allocated $800,000 for work to be carried out between College Avenue and Government Road from Tuesday 9 June.
“Work includes resurfacing the westbound lanes to improve motorists’ safety and reduce future maintenance costs,” Mr Ward.
“Motorists are advised changed traffic conditions will be in place between 7pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday until Monday 22 June.
“Minga Avenue will be closed between New Lake Entrance Road and Memorial Drive to ensure the safety of workers and motorists, with detours in place via College Avenue.”
Lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will also be in place on New Lake Entrance Road. Motorists can expect short delays.
There will be no changes to traffic conditions outside of work hours.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while the work is carried out.
Electronic message signs will display any changes to work dates and times.
The work is part of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government’s commitment to delivering safe and efficient services for the Illawarra and South Coast community.
