Changed traffic conditions for start of blasting work
Thursday, 25 June 2015
Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier for the Illawarra and South Coast, Gareth Ward reminds motorists of changed traffic conditions this Thursday for the start of controlled blasting work as part of the Foxground and Berry bypass.
“Controlled blasting is required to break up hard rock at both Toolijooa Ridge and Austral Park Road as part work on the NSW Government’s $580 million upgrade of the Princes Highway between Toolijooa Road and Schofields Lane,” Mr Ward said.
“Blasting will start this Thursday 25 June at Toolijooa Ridge, weather permitting.
“The blasts are planned to take place at 1pm to minimise the impact on traffic.
“Motorists should be aware an exclusion zone will be set up around the Toolijooa Ridge blasting site which includes some sections of the Princes Highway and Foxground Road.
“Once blasting starts early next month at Austral Park Road, it’s expected there will one blast a week at each location until late 2016.
“For the safety of motorists and workers, traffic will be stopped for each blast and delays of around 10 minutes can be expected.
“Electronic message signs on the Princes Highway will display the most up to date information including changed times and dates of blasting work.”
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.
