Investigations continue for Berry to Bomaderry Princes Highway upgrade
17 July 2015
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward has today announced that the next stage of investigation work will start next week to help inform the detailed design for the Berry to Bomaderry Princes Highway upgrade.
Mr Ward said that work will involve survey, geotechnical and utility services investigations which will be carried out at several locations between Mullers Lane at Berry and Cambewarra Road at Bomaderry.
“The New South Wales Government allocated $4.5 million this year to progress planning for the upgrade,” he said.
“This survey work is being carried out on weekdays between 7am and 5pm from Monday 20th July until the end of October, weather permitting.
“Some night work will also be carried out as required on week nights until Friday 7 August between 7pm and 5am, weather permitting.
“The survey work will focus on underground utilities while geotechnical investigations will include drilling boreholes and core sample tests to provide a better understanding of the ground conditions.
“This investigation work will inform the detailed design, with the concept design released in April 2015,” Mr Ward said.
For the safety of motorists and workers, there may be times when the road shoulder will be closed. Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Mr Ward said that the proposed upgrade of the Princes Highway between Schofields Lane at Berry and Cambewarra Road at Bomaderry will provide around 11.5 kilometres of divided highway, with two lanes in each direction.
