Stage two work starts for $1.2 million West Wyalong heavy vehicle bypass
16 September 2015
Roads and Maritime Services have started work this week on the second stage of the West Wyalong heavy vehicle bypass which will involve repairing a one kilometre section to improve conditions for heavy vehicle motorists.
Katrina said the project on Compton Road, just east of the Newell Highway, would involve providing wider lanes and shoulders for heavy vehicles which use the bypass, along with improvements to drainage.
“A key part of the project will be improving turning movements at the Central Road Intersection,” Katrina said.
Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 6pm and on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm, weather permitting.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including a reduced 40 km/h speed limit which will revert to 80 km/h outside work hours.
There will be no changes to property access during work.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience during this road upgrade, which is expected to be completed in October, with further improvements planned for January next year.
