Motorists encouraged to slow down on Pine Forest Road
Monday, 21 September 2015
Member for South Coast, Shelley Hancock has today encouraged motorists to slow down on Pine Forest Road at Tomerong with the speed limit to be reduced at the end of this month.
Mrs Hancock said Roads and Maritime Services carried out a review of the speed limit on the road as part of an ongoing speed zone review program after a request from the community and Shoalhaven City Council.
“The review assessed a number of factors along the road including pedestrian activity, the road environment, traffic volumes and crash data and found reducing the 100 km/h zone would improve safety,” Mrs Hancock said.
“The existing speed limit of 100 km/h will be reduced to 80 km/h along a 1.3 kilometre section from about 100 metres east of Jerberra Lane to 160 metres east of Connolly Street.
“The change aims to improve safety and is more consistent with the surrounding road environment.
“Roads and Maritime will continue to monitor the changing land use in the area.”
The new speed limit will apply from Monday 28 September 2015.
Signs will also be in place to remind motorists of the changed speed limit.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
