Work starts on widening Trunkey Road at McGeorges Creek
6th October 2015
Road users are soon to benefit from maintenance work to upgrade the road surface along Trunkey Road at McGeorges Creek about 25 kilometres south of Bathurst.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the $1 million NSW Government funded project would improve safety for motorists.
“Work is to start on Tuesday 6 October and expected to be completed by mid-November, involving widening the road to eight metres, improving safety for all road users and reducing future maintenance costs, “Mr Toole said.
“Roads and Maritime Services will also seal the road and carry out new line marking.
Work will be carried out on weekdays between 7am and 6pm, weather permitting, and traffic will be reduced to one lane closest to work to ensure the safety of road users and workers. “
Road users travelling to Bathurst will be given priority right of way, ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 races on 6-9 October. The worksite will be closed on Monday 12 October so racegoers can depart Bathurst with minimal delays.
Motorists should plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and all signs.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this important road improvement work is carried out. For the latest traffic information, visit www.livetraffic.com, download the Live Traffic App or call the Transport Management Centre on 132 701
