Michael Johnsen welcomes completion of Clarence Town Road upgrade

16 OCTOBER 2015

Michael Johnsen today announced that safety has been improved for motorists with the completion of the Clarence Town Road upgrade between Cemetery Road and Earl Street at Clarence Town.

Mr Johnsen said the NSW Government allocated $4.1 million through the Hunter Infrastructure and Investment Fund to rebuild 1.8 kilometres of Clarence Town Road, providing a smoother and safer road surface for motorists.

“As well as improving the road surface, new kerb and gutters and associated drainage works were also upgraded,” Mr Johnsen said.

“The final seal of our local road upgrade and minor finishing work including line marking will be carried out by the end of the year, weather permitting.”

Clarence Town Road will remain open during finishing work with reduced speed limits in place when work is carried out.

This is the last project to be completed as part of the NSW Government’s $20 million commitment to upgrade the road from Raymond Terrace to Dungog.

Work started in January and was carried out by Dungog Shire Council and contractor KCE Pty Ltd.

“I would like to thank our local community for their patience while the work was carried out,” Michael Johnsen concluded.
